In 1996, George RR Martin introduced us all to the world of Westeros with his release of the first installment of A Song of Ice and Fire titled A Game of Thrones. Since then, HBO has created a phenomenal series, as well as its newest prequel series House of the Dragon that I LOVE. And okay, we all have an opinion about that last episode of Game of Thrones, but honestly, I don’t think it completely undoes the awesomeness of the rest of the series! Below is a list of all of the books written by George RR Martin taking place in Westeros.
A Song of Ice and Fire

A Game of Thrones
In A Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin weaves a tale of mystery, romance, and adventure in a land where seasons last for decades. As the cold returns to the north and dark forces gather beyond the Wall, the Stark family of Winterfell becomes central to a deadly struggle for power, filled with betrayal, tragedy, and political intrigue. With lords, ladies, and sorcerers, the fate of all hangs in the balance in this epic battle for the throne.
A Clash of Kings
In A Clash of Kings, chaos erupts after the deaths of Lord Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon, plunging the Seven Kingdoms into war as six factions fight for control of the Iron Throne. Betrayal, magic, and bloodshed define the struggle, as enemies rise, allies turn, and the land is torn apart by fratricide, poison, and treachery. This epic continuation of George R.R. Martin’s saga brings together intrigue, adventure, and dark fantasy in a world where only the coldest hearts may prevail.

A Storm of Swords
The third volume in George R.R. Martin’s epic series follows the continuing wars and shifting alliances among the five contenders for power, with Joffrey on the Iron Throne and Daenerys advancing with her dragons. Amidst betrayal and political intrigue, an army of wildlings and the supernatural Others threaten the Seven Kingdoms, setting the stage for an explosive battle.
A Feast for Crows
The Lannisters hold power on the Iron Throne through young King Tommen, but the aftermath of war fuels new conflicts as the Martells and Starks seek revenge. Euron Crow’s Eye returns to claim the Iron Isles, while threats from the north loom and Samwell Tarly carries a mysterious child to the Citadel. Amidst treachery and ambition, only the coldest will prevail.

A Dance with Dragons
In the wake of a major battle, the Seven Kingdoms face new dangers as Daenerys Targaryen rules in the east with her dragons, pursued by enemies and a questing Tyrion Lannister. Meanwhile, Jon Snow contends with threats both within and beyond the Wall as power struggles and betrayals spread. As conflicts escalate, a vast array of characters confront obstacles that will shape their fates in an inevitable clash.
The Winds of Winter
The epic conclusion of the Song of Ice and Fire that Martin claims will not be released until after his death.
